Hola, Hi, KiaOra, I'm MariaBella and my friends call me "MaBe". I'm the creative designer behind Sweetargentos, who loves sharing her artistic baking with family and friends. Thanks for being here :)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when visiting loved ones wasn't possible, we wanted to find a way to spread joy despite the distance. That's when I decided to share my love for alfajores with our family and close friends, then with our neighbours and more friends... the word spread and our alfajores started a blossoming journey!
In Argentina, alfajores (pronounced "al.-fa.-ho-eres"), are traditional pastries that consist of two delicate, melt-in-your-mouth cookies made of a tasty combination of butter, vanilla, flour, sugar and eggs sandwiched together with a centre of creamy dulce de leche (a caramel confection made from milk and sugar), and then hand-dipped in chocolate. We proudly use Argentine dulce de leche Vacalin, one of Argentina's leading providers of milk caramel since 1981.

Listening to my husband's fondest childhood memories back home in Santiago del Estero, where the kitchen was always filled with the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked cookies, inspired us to begin baking using his grandma's recipes from "El Portal del NOA Argentino" where NOA stands for the North West Region of Argentina. It is these heartwarming moments filled with love and passion that we strive to preserve in our baking, For us, creating connections through our alfajores is what it's all about!
With a vision to share our Argentine culture through artisan baked-to-order Alfajores, we opened in December 2020 our online shop in Christchurch.
We're thrilled to bring the taste of one of the most traditional Argentine treats to Aotearoa and share our love for alfajores with all of you.
We use the highest-quality local ingredients to create our alfajores, including Classic, Vegan (dairy-free/egg-free), and Gluten-free. In addition to local collection and delivery, we also ship our Alfajores nationwide, to Australia, the UK and now the USA.
